Ticketing Information                                                                                                      Back to Top

Can I get a refund if I didn't use my ticket?

In most cases, yes.  Only used one-way, the refund is less the one-way fare. Tickets purchased at the Nashua terminal can be refunded, unless the ticket specifically states "No Refund." Be sure to have the credit card you used, if any. If you are unsure what type of ticket you have, call our Information Center at 1-800-639-8080. A refund application may need to be filled out if you have a manual ticket or if you do not wish to mail the information and tickets directly.

Am I entitled to a refund if the bus was late?

No. Every effort is made to operate according to published schedules. Connections are not guaranteed and schedules are subject to change without notice. Circumstances sometimes develop beyond our control and Boston Express cannot hold itself responsible for errors in timetables, inconvenience or damage resulting from delayed coaches.

How long are tickets good for?

Your ticket has an expiration date printed on the bottom of the ticket (says "VALID UNTIL" in bold lettering and a date). If you are unsure, call the Information Center at 1-800-639-8080.

Can someone else use my ticket even though my name is printed on it?

The person whose name is on the ticket must be the passenger traveling with us. If your name is on the ticket, you must refund the ticket (less any amount used) and apply the leftover balance to a new ticket for the actual person traveling. If you wish to buy a ticket for someone else and they cannot be present at the time of purchase, contact the Information Center to discuss other purchase options at 1-800-639-8080.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Boston Express  does not accept reservations. Please arrive 15-30 minutes before bus departure. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Every effort will be made to accommodate all passengers during peak travel times. Tickets may be purchased in advance but do not guarantee a seat. Tickets are not time or date specific--they are good for a block of time.

Where do I buy my tickets at Logan Airport?

There are no ticket counters or Boston Express representatives at the airport. Passengers must be at the pick-up locations prior to the departure time on the schedule.

For those passengers using our service that originates at Logan Airport and continues to South Station, the driver will direct Logan passengers to the Boston Express/Concord Coach Lines/Dartmouth Coach Ticket Counter upon arrival at South Station to purchase tickets. We accept cash, MasterCard and Visa.

See Logan Airport information for designated pick-up locations and other facility information.

Does Boston Express have a cell phone policy?

Yes. We discourage the use of cellular phones on all Boston Express buses with the exception of those situations where either a quick message is necessary due to circumstances beyond our control that delays the arrival time of a passenger or travel connection. Boston Express requests that passengers limit the use of cellular phones as a courtesy to fellow passengers.

Can I bring my dog/cat/bird/etc. on the bus?

Federal law prohibits us from carrying any and all animals except a service animal accompanying a legally deaf, blind or disabled person.

Why do I have to show a photo I.D. to ride the bus?

Boston Express requires a photo I.D. for all passengers traveling with an adult ticket. We do not require identification for children under the age of 12 traveling with a parent or guardian, however, if they are traveling alone, they will need a school I.D., passport, or copy of their birth certificate. Children under the age of 17 with no photo I.D. must be accompanied by an adult with a photo I.D. upon purchasing a ticket. These are security measures that we take in the event that there is an emergency and allows us to assist officials in identifying who traveled on a particular day. We do not generate passenger lists for each bus, therefore, we require you to show your I.D. each time you travel. This information is not stored in our system. We print your name on the ticket to ensure that you are the person traveling (see Ticketing Information). If you have questions about acceptable forms of I.D. or special circumstances, please contact Boston Express directly at 1-800-639-8080.

Is smoking allowed on the bus?

No. Smoking is prohibited on all coaches.

General Bus Travel Questions                                                           Back to Top

Are there bathrooms on the bus?

Yes. All coaches are equipped with a restroom in the rear of the coach.

Can I bring a bicycle on the bus?

Bicycles may be carried underneath the bus when there is sufficient room after all baggage has been loaded. Bicycles must be carried in a separate compartment or placed in such a way as to not damage any baggage. Bicycles in a box are preferred and will be carried without exception. Please be advised that other carriers will only take a bicycle if it is in a box. We make an exception to unboxed bicycles only if there is sufficient room in the baggage compartments.

Do I have to move my own bags from bus to bus?

Yes. If you require assistance, please notify the driver and someone will be able to assist you to your next departure gate. Please be aware that there are baggage limits: two (2) bags and one (1) carry-on for a full fare ticket, and one (1) bag and one (1) carry-on for a half-fare ticket. For any excess baggage there will be a charge of $5 per bag. See Ticket Agent for excess baggage ticket. Please note: luggage cannot be left unattended or in the care of a Boston Express employee at any terminal or agency for safety reasons.

Does Boston Express ever cancel service due to weather?

Generally, Boston Express does not cancel service to due weather unless driving conditions become a threat to the safety of our passengers. Weather cancellations are posted on our website as they become available. Cancellations are also obtained by calling our Information Center at 1-800-639-8080.

Why can't I find schedules to New York City or other points?

Boston Express provides service between points in Nashua, NH and Boston. Our website contains information for our services only. If you are making connections to New York City or other points, you must visit those websites to see those schedules. Our Links Page section of the website has the most commonly used carriers out of our service area.

Why don't I see service for Christmas Day?

The Christmas Day schedule is published separately and is generally available at the end of November. This is a highly modified schedule so if you plan to travel on this day, be aware that service is limited.

Do you have scheduled service to the Manchester Airport?

Boston Express does not provide service to the Manchester Airport in Manchester, NH. The only company providing this service is Vermont Transit. The Manchester Airport is approximately  30 minutes away by taxi.

Other Services                                                                                       Back to Top

Does Boston Express offer freight shipping services?

Not at the present time.

How does the Heavy Luggage Policy affect me?

Boston Express drivers and terminal personnel are not required to handle luggage weighing in excess of 50 lbs. Each piece weighing more than 50 lbs. will be tagged "HEAVY" alerting drivers and baggage handlers NOT to handle the luggage. Passengers traveling with baggage over 50 lbs. must handle their own luggage. Notices regarding this policy are posted in the Nashua terminal and on our busses.

Scales are available at each bus terminal so you will know before boarding the bus if your baggage is too heavy. If you believe that your luggage is too heavy or if you are unable to carry your heavy luggage, it is suggested that you carry multiple pieces not exceeding the number of baggage allowed per ticket. The baggage allowance is as follows: two (2) bags and one (1) carry-on for a full fare ticket, and one (1) bag and one (1) carry-on for a half-fare ticket. For any excess baggage there will be a charge of $5 per bag. Additional luggage will be loaded as space allows and is subject to freight charges. If you arrive at the terminal and your bag is too heavy and you are unable to carry your own luggage, it is up to the driver and baggage handlers as to whether they will be able to load and unload your luggage in a safe, injury-free manner.
